Design and Construction Trends for Hospital Facility Longevity and Efficiency in an Uncertain Economy

With the healthcare industry tightening its belt in this unstable economy, what are hospital administrators and facilities managers looking for in healthcare facility design and construction that will keep hospital functions cost-effective and efficient for the long term while also looking to the future to see what is required to create state of the art spaces that are safe, patient and family friendly and flexible in this ever-changing healthcare environment? With limited funds, donations and borrowing power, what types of improvements, amenities, design features, and construction delivery options are they concentrating their efforts on and what types of project opportunities will be out there for the A/E/C industry in the coming years?
